Our CNG
Volvo S80 FT and Volvo V70 CNG conversions
This
model has successfully completed its Emission Lab Testing in October
2009. Both our Tartarini LPG and CNG conversion are being added to the
Powershift Register.
We are
ready to convert your 5 cylinder Volvo using Tartarini Auto System to
a dual fuel* Compressed Natural Gas vehicle.
The car
uses
the 2.5 FT version of the standard car's turbocharged engine meaning it
can run
on Bio Ethanol as a reserve to its Bio Methane system. Thus keeping
nitrous
oxides and CO2 emissions really low at all times.
There isn't a great deal of room left under the bonnet when the new
Volvo was delivered to us.
Our work included adding five independent gas injectors, fitted as
close as feasible possible to the existing petrol ones.
There needs to be a Tartarini gas translation ECU and it's associated
wiring. The ECU is about the same size as a car radio. The loom has
wires to take the existing petrol injection signal and another set to
run the new gas injectors.

Operating
on gaseous fuels is easy.
Simply get in and drive,
our systems are fully automatic. The system even tells you when it has
switched back to petrol because you have run out of gas.
However,
CNG's inferior energy density to
petrol, means it can't go as far on a single tank of fuel, infact
around 200
miles before Auto change-over to petrol. One needs to ask, how often do
we
travel for 400 miles in one go?
Recently
I drove through France,
Germany, Austria,
Czech
Rep
to
the
Polish
boarded
on
gas
taken at 160-180 interval, we only
need
to run on petrol for 5 miles (that’s because one filling station was
closed on
a Sunday)
Your
motoring can be incredibly cost effective with our cng

have been carrying out cng
conversions on vehicles since 1998. An cng conversion enables petrol
vehicles to run on either cng or Petrol controlled by the driver from
inside the vehicle whilst realising cost savings of up to 30% over
petrol.
The environmental
advantages of natural gas as a motor fuel
can be
further enhanced by the use of bio natural gas (biomethane)
Biomethane is suitable as
a fuel for NGVs without any
restrictions.
In 2020, enough biomethane could be available to fuel more than four
million NGVs in Germany.
The UK currently has less
than 20 public CNG filling
facilities.
Natural gas has great potential as a motor fuel.
It
is not only considerably cheaper than petrol and diesel, but is also
very favorable for the environment.
But it
does mean a S80-CNG will produce around 25 per cent
less CO2 than the standard
model. Because of this our conversion has achieved the accolade of
being listed
on the Powershift Register. This is the list Transport for London excepts
for vehicles that can be registered
a congestion charge. So our work has produced the only current model
Volvo, to
be exempt from the london
congestion charge.
Not only
is
there the £8 per day charge saving to be enjoyed. There are huge
environmental
saving by running on compressed bio methane from Landfill sites, as the
London Borough of Camden
are. From the waste they collect, they can process this and charge-up
their S80.
